Tuhan...
Semua yang telah Kau ambil dari tangan kecilku
Membuatku belajar merelakan, melepaskan
Ajar aku,
Menjadi anak-Mu yang dapat dengan tulus, mengucapkan puisi ini:
God's Lent Gift
"I'll
lend you for a little while
A Gift of
mine," God said;
"For
you to love the while it lives
And mourn
for when it's dead."
"It may
be one or two years,
Or forty-two
or three.
But will
you, till I call it back.
Take care of it for me?"
"It'll
bring its charms to gladden you;
And should it stay be brief,
You'll have its lovely memories
As a solace
for your grief."
"I
cannot promise it will stay,
Since all
from earth return;
But the
lessons taught in earthly realm
I want this gift to learn."
"I've
looked the whole world over
In search of
teachers true;
And from the
ones that crowd life's lane,
I have
chosen you."
"Will
you give it all your tender care,
Nor think
the labor vain,
Nor hate Me
when I come to take
This lent gift back again?"
And we said,
"Dear
Lord, Thy will be done.
For joys Thy gift will bring,
The risk of
grief we'll run."
"We'll
shelter it with tenderness;
We'll love it while we may;
And for the
happiness we've known,
Forever
grateful stay."
"But
should Thy angels call for it
Much sooner
than we've planned,
We'll brave
the grief that comes to us
And try to
understand."
